Just wanted to say that I received my LPA-1 last week and it is a really good addition to my AV system. I'm using a Pioneer VSX-815 as a pre/pro to drive Infinity Beta 50's and a C360 surround and the LPA-1 has really opened up the soundfield of the speakers. My rear surround speakers are a 30 year old pair of DCM Timewindows and I have 2 Infinity Beta c250's for the surround backs. I am using LPA-1's 2- 50 watt channels for the surround backs and it drives the Infinity Beta C250's just fine. The DCM's as surround speakers are 6 ohm and it was a strain for the Pioneer's amp to drive them.
The Emotiva just cruises at all sound levels I have run the system at and never sounds strained. SACD's on my system sound amazing. I've been re-listening to the new Genesis set of 5 discs and the speakers just about disappear, even at high volume.
The nice thing about the Emotiva amp is that it let me join the world of separates without blowing out my finances ( I'm currently not working). Eventually I'll be adding a "real" pre/pro but for now I'm more than satisfied with my purchase!

A couple of other observations I'd like to add to my post above is that the input sensitivity of the LPA-1 is about 6db higher than the Pioneer VSX-815 I'm using, which is not a negative issue at all. When I set up the LPA-1 the only level I had to re adjust was my subwoofer level ( SVS PB12 NSD). It just required a 6 db boost in input level to balance nicely with all my other speakers. Over all I'm extremely satisfied with my LPA-1.

One more thing I'm going to add...in my search for a "reasonably" priced 7 channel amp I had almost decided on an Adcom GFA 7607 demo that I found from a Connecticut retailer for $999.00. That would have really blown out my budget for a long time to come so the LPA-1 was an excellent way to get my system started on seperates.

Welcome, Luna! You have the honor of being the first person to actually use this forum!
Hopefully we'll find some more users, but until then it's a pretty quiet place.
Thank you for the opinion of the LPA-1. I have one as well, and quite enjoy it.

I've had my LPA-1 for about 6 months now and am very happy with the sound quality. I'm using 4 year old Denon receiver as a preamp for now. I heard the difference when I switched from the Denon amps to the LPA-1. Not drastic in overall quality change, but definitely in dynamic change... from 90 watts (and probably not a true 90) to 125 real wattsmade a big difference. I had intended to get the processor as well, but the complaints about bugs in its input and formats memory has kept me from doing that.

Greetings......
I am using an LPA-1 with a Pioneer VSX-1014TX as a pre/pro. I love the LPA-1 in this set up. It has more headroom and doesn't get strained at high volumes. It is better than the 1014 for this. This amp is truely a huge bargin!!

This is great news as I'am seriously thinking about making the leap to the LPA-1. Luna, it sounds like you have helped make the choice. Great thread and you too, moovtune. Now the hard part ,justify this purchase to Mrs.gobats
