First of all, thank you for starting this forum, I hope Emotiva adopts it, or at least links to it from their website.
I will be purchasing this combo before months end, quirks and all, because free shipping may or may not continue.
I will be replacing a HK AVR 340 and GFA 6000 combo.
I have read about the issues/quirks of the LMC-1.
I'm just looking for some tips, hints, warnings or any other comments, negative or positive, from owners of this combo.

I owned the combo for a long weekend. Sent back the LMC (debating about maybe re-ordering it) but kept the LPA. I'm now using my Pioneer Elite AVR as a pre-pro and it's a pretty good combination, though not as sonically pure as with the LMC. For lots of details, I wrote up a pretty intense amateur review, it's under the LMC area. emotiva.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=lmc1&action=display&thread=1178674328The LPA is a beast of an amp, and unmatched for the price (IMHO). The only thing to be careful of is that it is very sensitive to bad cables and/or short conditions, which is a good thing. Do not disconnect the cables without shutting down the amp, because you will trip the protection circuit. Don't ask how I know this . The LMC is a decent preprocessor, but it has its quirks as you have read. The important thing is to keep an open mind. Try not to be too jaded about it's quirks. Evaluate it faithfully, and don't be afraid to send it back if you don't like it.

I read your review at "another forum you frequent", it may be an amateur review, but is very well written.
Believe it or not, I put more stock into a review written by people like you who have actually purchased the equipment for their personal use, (even though you sent it back) than I do any professional review. I'm sure many other people feel this way.
Funny you should mention shutting down the amp before connecting/disconnecting. When moving my Adcom amp, I had shut it down, but the capacitors apparently weren't completely discharged when I disconnected the cables.
When I reconnected the amp my left channel was inoperative, I had blown one of the fuses.
I now turn off my amp while letting the sound feed through it until I can no linger hear it, then disconnect my cables.

I've been closely watching the LMC-1/LPA-1 combo for several months. This looks like the deal of the century. Sounds like the LMC-1 has it's fair share of problems but the 40% upgrade seems unbeatable.
Who disconnects cables from an amplifier while the power is still on? We've all done stupid things, excuse me while I go and stick my hand in the light socket.
